Realdolmen is de eerste in Vlaanderen die een grootschalig project rond Microsoft Azure heeft die live zal gaan in de loop van de maand mei. De sessie "Microsoft Azure case study" op onze themadag op 26 mei 2010 wordt dus bijzonder interessant voor al wie plannen heeft om te ontwikkelen in de cloud.

Maarten Balliauw is Realdolmen's expert omtrent Azure. Hij introduceert dit project als volgt:

"Voor een bedrijf dat inschrijvingen en resultaatverwerking verzorgt voor sportevents is het nodig om op het juiste moment de juiste capaciteit aan webservers te voorzien. In deze sessie komt u meer te weten over de migratie van hun omgeving met slechts 1 webserver naar een cloud-oplossing op Windows Azure. U kan in deze sessie uitgebreid leren van onze fouten: challenges, valkuilen én oplossingen worden in deze sessie uitgebreid toegelicht"

Maarten is een echte technische expert, geen technologie evangelist. Getuige daarvan is zijn bijzonder interessante blog, die vol met concrete tech tips staat over Azure.

Maarten's Bio:

Maarten Balliauw has a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering and has about 8 years of experience in software development. He started his career during his studies where he founded a company doing web development in PHP and ASP.NET. After graduation, he sold his shares and joined one of the largest ICT companies in Belgium, RealDolmen, where he continued web application development in ASP.NET and application lifecycle management in Visual Studio Team System. He is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist ASP.NET and Most Valuable Professional (MVP) ASP.NET, and works with the latest Microsoft technologies such as LINQ and ASP.NET 3.5, and has published many articles in both PHP and .NET literature such as MSDN magazine Belgium and PHP architect.
